St. Peter's Mission Statement

We are God's children who joyfully
share the accepting grace
we have received through
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
by reaching out through worship,
study, fellowship, and
service in our community
and the world.

Adult Ministries Care Ministries > Stephen Ministries

Stephen Ministry equips laypersons to give distinctively Christian care individually for those who are experiencing difficult circumstances. Stephen Ministers are not therapists or casual friends.  They are caring Christian friends who are called and trained to really listen.

Stephen Ministers receive 50+ hours of training and participate in continuing education and supervision. They are committed to the highest level of confidentiality in their ministry. Those receiving care can be certain that their
identity and what goes on in the caring relationship
will remain private.

To learn more about becoming a Stephen Minster or to request a Stephen ministry relationship, contact Kim Meyers at 281.492.8031, ext 305.

What Do Stephen Ministers Do?
Stephen Ministers offer caring Christian friendship and concerned listening to people when they need it most.

What Happens When You Ask for Help From a Stephen Minister?
When you ask for help from a Stephen Minister, a Stephen Leader will contact you to talk more about Stephen Ministry and what it can mean to you. If your needs can be best served by a Stephen Minister, you will be matched with someone who will support you through this tough time.

Who Will Know?
Who will know about my problem if I talk to a Stephen Minister? Many people ask this question. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of Stephen Ministry. No one will find out what you discuss with your Stephen Minster. If you have a burden you need to share, perhaps a Stephen Minister can help. Contact Kim Meyers at 281.492.8031, ext. 305.

We All Know Someone...
...someone in crisis who doesn't know where to turn, someone who is tense, upset, worn out, needing someone to talk with, someone to care. You'd like to help. But how?
There are three easy steps:

1. Listen and care for your friend in your own relationship together.
2. Ask your friend for permission to share his or her need with someone who can help. Be sure to tell your friend that all information will be kept confidential.
3. Once permission is given, report this or her need as promptly as possible.
You can do this by calling Kim Meyers at the church office at 281.492.8031, ext. 305.
