Our
Mission
St. Peter's ECDC is one of the finest early childhood development programs in the area. Dedicated teachers and a strong governing board keep the standards high for this outreach to children age 15 months through 5 years. Our program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and licensed by the State of Texas Protective and Regulatory Services.
 |
The ECDC provides a warm, nurturing environment where each student can grow and develop spiritually, cognitively, physically, emotionally, and socially, in a Christian atmosphere.
We believe each child is a child of God - a special, unique person valued for his own worth, growing and learning at his own pace as he actively relates to our world through play - a child's "work."
|
Through developmentally appropriate play, ECDC children build skills in math, language, art, science, and social studies.
Our program is an outreach ministry of St. Peter's United Methodist church into our community. We strive to meet the needs of children and encourage the development of Christian homes and families through parent participation and education. |

Program
Features
Our curriculum is grounded in developmentally appropriate practice: we teach in ways that match how children develop and learn. We see child development as a continuum, with children developing in four areas—social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. We foster every child’s development in these areas, while at the same time, we are aware of each child’s individual differences and needs.
We make every effort to provide the very best learning conditions for young children. Low child-to-teacher ratios, curriculum, equipment, and facilities are all important parts of the learning environment. Our classrooms are center-based, providing many opportunities for hands-on activities that develop creative thinking, problem solving, language, and social skills. In addition, weekly enrichment opportunities include chapel, music, motor skills, and Spanish (for 4 year olds).
We are also extremely proud of our teachers and assistant teachers, who are degreed or CDA-certified professional educators. All staff members are caring, nurturing persons who love children and are well-trained in early childhood education.
ECDC registration takes place in January each year. Children may also be put on our wait list at any time. Our program runs from late August through May and follows the KISD school calendar for holidays and bad weather days. Our school calendar and class schedule information are available for download below.
